Susicko lake

Sušičko Lake is one of the most beautiful and unique spots in Durmitor, situated within the deep Sušica Canyon at an elevation of approximately 1,140 meters.

The lake possesses a dynamic, ever-changing nature that sets it apart from other "mountain eyes" (glacial lakes):

A periodic lake: It forms in the spring due to melting snow from the surrounding Durmitor peaks and heavy rainfall.

Disappearance in summer: As the warmer months progress, the water gradually drains through limestone fissures in the lakebed; consequently, by late summer and autumn, the lake dries up completely, transforming into a beautiful, lush green meadow.

Geographical location: It is located on the western side of Durmitor, surrounded by the steep cliffs of the Sušica River canyon and dense, centuries-old forests.

Access and activities: It is a popular destination for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and visitors traveling the famous "Durmitor Ring" route. It is accessible via an asphalt road from Žabljak, passing through the village of Mala Crna Gora.
