The church (that is, the chapel) of Saints Cyrus and John the Silverless on Kosmač belongs to the complex of the ancient monastery Kosmač, which is located on the small island of the same name (gorica) in the northwestern part of Lake Skadar (near the villages of Boljesestra and Ponari / Grbavci).

Location and environment: It is located on the isolated lake island of Kosmač on Lake Skadar. Over the centuries, the monastery complex itself was neglected and difficult to access, in the middle of lush lake vegetation, but its restoration began in the early 2000s.
Historical background of the monastery: The main monastery temple on Kosmač is dedicated to Saint George and originates from the Middle Ages (14th century). According to folk tradition, this monastery is associated with the story that it was there that Prince Marko married Jevrosim.
The origin of the chapel / temple of St. Cyrus and John: Next to the main church of St. George, the remains of another smaller, ancient temple from the time of Ivan Crnojević (15th century) were discovered within the monastery complex. Since it was not reliably known from historical sources who it was originally dedicated to, when its renovation began on July 11, 2015, a blessing was given that it should be dedicated to the Holy miracle workers and silversmiths Kir and Jovan (since the feast of the transfer of their relics was celebrated on that day).
Architecture: It was built in the style of a modest single-nave stone building from hewn rock stone from the lake area, harmonized with the traditional construction of other Zeta and lake monasteries and metohs.
