The Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Trubjela (not far from Nikšić) is the main sacred and gathering place for the locals of this region.
Basic features and highlights:
Location: The village of Trubjela is located west of Nikšić, along the highway leading to Vilusi and Trebinje. The church is located in the settlement itself and is surrounded by the local cemetery.
Architecture: It was built in the traditional style characteristic of old Montenegrin and Herzegovina village temples — of hewn stone, with a single nave base and a "horsetail" belfry with a bell above the entrance itself.
Significance and restoration: It is dedicated to St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker of Mirlikia. Like many rural sanctuaries in the Nikšić region, the temple has been renovated and maintained several times throughout history with the efforts and voluntary contributions of local brotherhoods and residents of Trubjela.
Spiritual life: Belongs to the Diocese of Budimljansko-Niššić. Liturgies are periodically served in it, especially for temple holidays, village celebrations and during rituals and gatherings of the locals.
