The Church of Saint Vasilij Ostroški in the village of Vranj (Zeta, municipality of Podgorica/Zeta) is an important village shrine and a spiritual gathering place for the inhabitants of this part of Zeta.
Basic features and history:
Location: It is located in the village of Vranj, located in the Zeta plain, not far from Tuza and Podgorica, near Skadar lake.
Construction and renovation: It was built with the effort, work and voluntary contributions of the residents of the village of Vranj and the surrounding brotherhoods. With the construction of the temple, the locals got their own place for religious services, baptisms and gatherings.
Architecture: It was built in the spirit of traditional sacral architecture of hewn stone. It is a one-nave building with a "horsetail" bell tower above the entrance and a beautifully decorated portico.
Holiday and celebration: It is dedicated to St. Vasilij Ostroh the Wonderworker, who is celebrated on May 12. On that day in Vranje, a solemn liturgy is traditionally served and a people's assembly is held, where the residents of Zeta and guests gather.
Affiliation: The church belongs to the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.
