The Church of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Dobrota (Kotor municipality) is one of the younger, but extremely important Orthodox shrines in the Boka Kotorska area.
Basic features and history:
Location: It is located in the Dobrota neighborhood (Kriva street / Sveti Stasije), within the residential-urban zone not far from the sea coast.
Construction and consecration: It was built at the beginning of the 21st century with the efforts and contributions of the faithful people of Dobrota and Kotor, so that the Orthodox believers in this large settlement of Kotor would have their own cathedral.
Architecture: It was built in the spirit of traditional Mediterranean and Byzantine sacral architecture of hewn stone. It is characterized by a harmonious single nave base with a dome and a beautifully decorated belfry and a spacious port.
Holiday and glory: It is dedicated to St. Vasilij Ostroh the Wonderworker, who is celebrated on May 12. On that day, a solemn liturgy is served in the temple, a liturgy is organized and a large national assembly is held that gathers the residents of Dobrota, Kotor and the whole of Boka.
Affiliation: The church belongs to the Parish of Dobrot within the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral and is the center of spiritual and liturgical life for the Orthodox inhabitants of this part of Kotor.
