An interesting fact from the history of the village: There was no village church in Obard before this. At the end of the Turkish rule (at the beginning of the 20th century), since the Ottoman authorities did not allow the opening of Serbian schools, the inhabitants of Obard used a trick — they asked for permission to build a "cemetery chapel" next to the village cemetery. When they got permission, they used that facility to open the first elementary school in the village.
Today: The new church represents the spiritual center and pride of the inhabitants of Obard, gathering people on the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius (May 24) and during other religious holidays.
