Jablan is an old and picturesque village in the area of Lijeva Rijeka (territory of the Capital City of Podgorica), located in the immediate vicinity of the famous location called Nožica and the famous church known as Vasova church.

1. Vasojević's crib and Vas' church
Eponym of the tribe: Lijeva Rijeka is considered the motherland and homeland of Vasojević, the largest Serbian/Montenegrin tribe. According to folklore, the progenitor of the Vaso tribe settled in this area (on Nožica).
Vasova church (Church on Nožica): It is located in the immediate vicinity of Jablan. Tradition says that the original church was built on that spot by Vaso himself in the Middle Ages. Today's church (dedicated to Archangel Michael, the baptismal glory of Vasojević) was rebuilt on the old foundations and represents the main spiritual and historical meeting place of the entire tribe.
2. Geographical position and nature
Jablan is located in the mountainous environment of Lijeva Rijeka, at the foot of the mountain massifs that stretch towards Komovi.
The landscape is typically northern-mountainous - with lush forests, meadows, clean watercourses and a fresh climate during the summer, while the winters are long and covered with snow.
3. Importance of the highway (Dramatically better connectivity)
Like the other villages of Lijeve Rijeka and Veruša, Jablan was quite isolated for decades due to the narrow and winding old road through Bioč.
With the opening of the "Princeza Xenija" highway section and the Veruša/Lijeva Rijeka interchange, Jablano and Vasova church can now be reached from Podgorica in just 25-30 minutes, which has completely revitalized this area.

The village is historically linked to families originating from Vasa and has traditionally been engaged in animal husbandry, beekeeping and agriculture.
Today, in Jablan and the surrounding villages, many descendants are renovating the old estates and ancestral homes, so the village comes alive during the summer months and holidays (especially around Arandjelovdan and the summer assemblies at Vasova church) with a large number of visitors.
