Church Sv.Arhidjakon Stefan/Church Sv.Aleksandar Nevski

This photo shows the very top of the cliff of the island of Sveti Stefan, on which there are two churches next to each other:

Church of Saint Archdeacon Stephen (Old Church):

It is a larger temple with a distinctive tall, three-part belfry on a horseshoe.

It was built in the 15th century (around 1464) and the whole island got its name from it.

It is located on the highest point of the rock.

Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky:

It is located right next to the Church of St. Stephen (smaller building on the right, located next to the plateau-terrace on the cliff).

It was originally built in the 19th century, and in the 1930s it was renovated and dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky.

This is exactly the church that during the conversion of the island into a luxury city-hotel was demolished and walled under a concrete terrace, only to be rediscovered and rebuilt on this plateau after many decades.
